Wallace & Gromit’s LEGO motorbike gives both characters room to shine
A desk review of new LEGO Ideas set 21371, from its fan-designed origins to the expressive details shared between motorbike and sidecar.

Two personalities, one vehicle
Wallace sits high above the handlebars, smiling beneath a white helmet. Beside him, Gromit peers out of a red sidecar, his goggles making an already expressive face even more prominent. LEGO Ideas Wallace & Gromit 21371 gives the pair different positions in the same composition, and that is where much of its appeal begins.
This is a desk review of official imagery and documented features, not a hands-on build assessment. The 1,038-piece model draws on the motorbike scene from A Close Shave. LEGO identifies adjustable heads for both characters, plus movement in Gromit’s arms and hat flaps.
A fan idea reaches the shelf
Aardman’s August 31 announcement credits LEGO Ideas fan designer Pidelium with the original concept. It was the Grand Prize winner in the platform’s 90s Throwback – The Next Chapter challenge before becoming an official set. Aardman announced an October 1, 2026 release.
The collaboration offers a particularly fitting route into this world: a fan’s model became a product celebrating characters known for handmade invention. That parallel is our interpretation, but the documented contest origin is a useful reminder that a focused scene can carry an entire proposal. A model does not need every room, vehicle and supporting character to explain why people love its subject.
Let the sidecar tell its own story
In the product photograph, the red bodywork connects the two characters visually while their different heights keep both faces readable. Our display suggestion is to start with this three-quarter view. Looking only from the motorbike’s side risks giving the machinery priority over the partnership.
The documented features include rolling wheels and a seat compartment containing crackers, a yarn ball and a diamond. Those smaller references reward a closer look after the larger shapes have introduced the characters. They do not establish how robust the finished build feels or how easy it is to assemble; those questions need physical testing.
Check timing before planning a gift
At our October 20 check, LEGO’s US product page listed the set at $99.99 on backorder, with a 60-day shipping estimate. That is a dated storefront observation, not a delivery promise; regional stock and estimates can change.
For a display-minded builder, the more enduring question is whether both faces will remain visible in the intended space. This model’s charm depends on the relationship between its riders. Give the sidecar room, and the scene can introduce itself before anyone spots the hidden accessories.
