Pharrell’s Over the Moon gives its imagined space crew more faces
The 2024 collaboration paired a colorful shuttle display with a broad selection of minifigure heads and a stated ambition for creative play.

Space as a place to imagine a different story
LEGO and Pharrell Williams announced their collaboration in September 2024. Over the Moon 10391 paired a black-and-gold shuttle with a colorful exhaust display, drawing on the artist’s childhood fascination with space. The announcement connected the project with creativity and representation, and described plans to extend the collaboration through his education nonprofit, YELLOW.
This is a retrospective of that announcement and the resulting model, not a claim about the present status or measured results of those education plans. The set itself offers a concrete way to examine the collaboration’s ideas.
Two named astronauts, many more possible characters
LEGO’s product page lists Pharrell Williams and Helen Williams astronaut minifigures, plus 49 interchangeable character heads. Together with the two figures’ heads, that accounts for the 51 heads described in the launch announcement. Those are heads, not 51 complete minifigures.
The shuttle has an opening cockpit and detachable landing gear, allowing it to be separated from its colorful takeoff stand. The two astronauts have helmets with opening gold-colored visors. These are published contents and features; this article does not report a hands-on build or judge the durability of the display arrangement.
A choice of faces changes the invitation
The launch announcement described seven minifigure skin tones in the set. Our interpretation is that a visible selection of faces makes choosing the crew part of the display’s story. The owner can consider who belongs in the cockpit rather than treating the vehicle as the only subject.
That is a useful question for an original space scene too. Once the ship has a shape and purpose, who uses it? A character does not need a long biography, but a few decisions about the crew can influence what equipment, meeting spaces or personal details a builder chooses to include.
An imaginative model invites an imaginative response
We would approach this shuttle as a creative interpretation, without asking it to explain real spacecraft engineering. Its colors and supporting plume make an expressive picture of departure. The official shelf photograph also shows how the faces and spacecraft can be viewed as related parts of a display.
For a small personal project, try designing a vehicle around someone’s curiosity: a place they want to see, a question they want to answer or a companion they would bring. That is our building prompt, not an official campaign activity. The result can be modest while still giving its imagined traveler a reason to set off.
