A father-and-son LEGO idea is becoming part of Daft Punk’s next chapter

A family project reaches a much bigger stage

Patrick Harboun and his son started building a Daft Punk idea during lockdown. Now that shared enthusiasm has a place in an official LEGO partnership. Announced on October 22, the collaboration will take their LEGO Ideas concert concept into development as a set.

The proposal recreates the pyramid stage from the duo’s 2007 ALIVE tour. LEGO says it won the Music to Our Ears challenge in 2020 and subsequently reached 10,000 supporters. The announcement points to more in 2027, without giving a final set specification or purchase date.

Why the stage makes a strong subject

The supplied fan-model image puts two small performers inside a much larger geometric composition. A glowing pyramid holds the center, while repeated diagonal lines spread out across both sides. Our visual reading is that the scene remains recognizable as a performance space even before the eye finds the characters.

For builders, that suggests an appealing compositional exercise: give the main shape enough space to establish the subject, then use repeated details to connect the surrounding structure. A complicated display does not have to give every element equal attention. Here, the central triangle provides a clear place to begin looking.

Look at the idea without mistaking it for the finished set

LEGO explicitly labels the published concept image as a fan model rather than the final product. That distinction matters when examining its apparent lighting and stage arrangement. They show the submitted idea; they do not establish what a retail box will contain.

Our recommendation is to enjoy these early images as an introduction to the design problem. Later product information can answer different questions: how much display space it needs, which features are included and what the building experience is intended to be. Keeping those questions separate makes the reveal more interesting without making promises the announcement has not made.

A community story beyond one box

The partnership also encompasses content and experiences. Its launch film uses Voyager and Human After All, connecting the announcement to the duo’s music.

For the fan community, the most encouraging detail is the project’s starting point. Two people found something they enjoyed together and gave it a form other builders could recognize. Their route to this announcement offers a cheerful reminder that a small shared project can be worth making long before anyone knows where it might lead.
