A small character beside a familiar shape

The Nutcracker minifigure beside LEGO Christmas Stocking 40958 makes the model feel wonderfully oversized. In the official image, the little figure stands next to a red-and-green stocking decorated with golden stars. A candy cane and gingerbread tree rise above its cuff. The familiar scale of the minifigure makes the whole arrangement read like a festive stage.

This is a desk review based on official product information and visual analysis, rather than a hands-on build. For minifigure collectors, the interesting question is how to display a character so that it becomes part of a scene. Here, the surrounding object does much of that work.

An October arrival with two display choices

LEGO included the 342-piece stocking in its September holiday announcement, with an October 1, 2026 release. It is recommended for ages 12 and up. The US product page listed it as available at $34.99 when checked October 22; prices and availability elsewhere may differ.

The included hook and pop-out kickstand offer hanging and standing options. LEGO gives the model dimensions as over 24 centimeters high, 16 centimeters wide and 4 centimeters deep. Its official description also identifies customizable holly and star details, along with the included Nutcracker minifigure.

Texture without losing the outline

Our visual reading is that the rounded red elements across the front do two jobs. They break up a broad flat area, but remain close enough in color that the stocking still has a clear silhouette. Green at the toe, heel and cuff provides contrast; the small gold details give the eye places to pause.

That balance matters when a decoration will share a shelf with other seasonal objects. Too many competing colors could make the outline disappear. Here, the larger shape remains easy to recognize before a viewer moves closer to explore the smaller parts.

Give the minifigure its own place

Our display suggestion is to try the Nutcracker beside the stocking, as shown in the official image, before deciding whether to place it among the treats. Standing alongside gives the figure a clear outline and preserves the playful contrast in size. A simple background would help both subjects remain visible.

We have not tested the kickstand or hanging arrangement, so this is an assessment of the design’s possibilities rather than its physical performance. The appeal is straightforward: a familiar holiday shape becomes a setting for a little character, with enough surface detail to reward a second look.
