One favorite was not the only possible answer

Choosing a single scene to represent a century of Disney would leave plenty of favorite stories outside the frame. Fan builder Anna, known on LEGO Ideas as 2A2A, answered that problem with a composition built around Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Mouse and several smaller scenes. LEGO identified her creation as the winner of its 100 Years of Fairytales challenge when it revealed Magic of Disney 21352 in September 2024.

The finished set launched that October. Revisiting it now offers an appealing look at a fan idea that organizes abundance: the display includes many references, yet still gives the viewer an obvious place to begin.

A contest limit helped define the idea

LEGO’s October 2024 follow-up explains that the challenge allowed entries using 50 to 800 elements. Anna’s design passed a fan vote and the judging stage before becoming a retail model. The final version contains 1,103 pieces, so the submission and the finished set should not be treated as identical builds.

Our interpretation is that the original limit encouraged a useful editorial decision: each small scene needed a recognizable moment rather than a complete location. That approach translates well to community displays. A modest section can contribute a specific memory without competing to be the largest object on the table.

Mickey gives the smaller scenes a common frame

The official model places Mickey above vignettes including Belle with the enchanted rose, Geppetto on his raft, Lilo surfing and Bruno at Madrigal House. LEGO also includes Simba on Pride Rock and characters from The Little Mermaid. These are separate stories rather than a claim that all the characters share one setting.

Looking at the official image, the oversized central figure acts as a host. His outstretched arms give the surrounding scenes a visual boundary, while the red robe creates a strong center among the smaller colors. The display can be read quickly as Mickey, then explored slowly as a collection of memories.

Give each memory something specific to do

For fans planning a tribute build of their own, our suggestion is to choose an action or relationship for each miniature scene. A character beside a meaningful object offers a visitor more to recognize than a figure placed on an empty platform.

It is also worth deciding which element should be noticed first. If every section demands equal attention, the whole composition can become difficult to read. Anna’s project suggests a friendly alternative: establish a strong central shape, then let the smaller discoveries reward a closer look. That makes room for several people to find their own favorite part without requiring them to agree on one favorite film.
